Job description

Advice Space, formerly Citizens Advice Belfast, is all about making sure that advice services are accessible and available across Northern Ireland. Providing a high-quality service for more than 50 years, we support clients in delivering specialist advice and speaking up for them where we can.

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Money and Debt Advisor to provide advice, guidance and representation to clients who need help dealing with debt and to improve their capability to deal with their finances.

You will support clients through face-to-face interviews, telephone advice and outreach, ensuring all appropriate debt resolution options are explored according to their circumstances and needs. You will identify and deal appropriately with emergency intervention cases, negotiating with creditors and debt collection companies where necessary.

About you:

To be successful in the role you will have face to face money and debt advice experience and completed a recognised Adviser Training Programme e.g., a programme provided by Citizens Advice, Advice NI or the Law Centre NI. We will also consider applications from candidates with a strong background in money and debt advice, willing to undertake some training.

You will have the ability to work with figures and understand complex information and legislation. You will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the confidence and ability to deal competently with creditors.

With knowledge of current money and debt advice issues, you will understand the need for confidentiality, work in a friendly manner, and demonstrate a client centred approach of understanding with people in financial difficulty.

If you feel you have the right skills and experience for the role, please apply today, and join a dynamic, growing organisation where you can really make a difference to people living in Northern Ireland.

The charity strongly believes in an inclusive and supportive work culture.  They recognise the importance of a good work-life balance and the need for a fulfilling and rewarding career.   They understand the changing demands of life and the need for flexibility in working arrangements to meet these demands.  They are an equal opportunity employer and as such will consider all qualified applicants regardless of gender, race, disability, religion/belief, sexual orientation or age.

Other roles you may have experience of could include: Advice Caseworker, Debt Advice, Welfare and Benefits, Housing Advice, Advice Session Supervisor, Money Advice Caseworker, Financial Wellbeing Adviser.
