Job description

Make your mark and make a difference!!

Do you have a financial background? Would you be interested in supporting an innovative and long-established charity in NI that’s on a sound financial footing with a commercial outlook to build sustainability?

We have a great opportunity for a passionate and motivated Treasurer to work with the organisation to 2025 and beyond. The location is flexible but a knowledge of NI and it’s working political structures would be advantageous.

About you and the role:

As Treasurer, you will work closely with your Board colleagues and the Director in lending your financial expertise to the organisation. Our finance work is outsourced to a long-established firm of local accountants with extensive experience in working with charities. Your primary role will be disseminating financial information to your board colleagues and making recommendations.

You should be available to attend meetings on a frequency that is decided with your colleagues. You will meet with the Accountant and Director – offering views and opinions on income and expenditure and developed budgets and keeping up to date with what’s happening in the service and the wider sector so that the best decisions can be taken by trustees. It's imperative that you and your colleagues always act in the interests of Advice Space, it’s staff, volunteers and service users.

Teamwork is how things are done in Advice Space so you won’t be working on your own.

About Advice Space

We have been in existence since 1964 and rebranded in 2018/19 to Advice Space. We are the largest frontline advice provider in NI with an income in excess of £1m per year. We operate across nine sites - six main offices and three hospital sites with staff, volunteers and partners to deliver person centred advice services that really do make a difference to communities and the people that live there.

We know that our services will be required as never before in the tough economic times ahead and as such you will be working with a charity that is committed to making sure that advice services are accessible and available to all across Northern Ireland.

If you feel you have the right skills and are looking to add charitable activities to take your career to the next level of responsibility, then apply today and join a dynamic, growing organisation where you can really make an impact!

The post of trustee is a voluntary one, but all reasonable expenses are reimbursed. The role will provide you with a great deal of experience and satisfaction, the opportunity to develop your skills and utilise your expertise and knowledge.
