Role Description

Funded by Macmillan Cancer Support, we are currently seeking an experienced Benefits Service Adviser who will undertake casework, assisting clients to access their entitlements to welfare benefits and other sources of financial help. You will have an opportunity to really make a difference to people at a very difficult time in their lives. You will provide this service to patients, family, carers, social work staff and other cancer support service workers, who come into contact with the service.

To be successful, you will need an understanding of the financial implications of a cancer diagnosis, and experience of providing benefits advice to the public.  You will have completed a recognised Adviser Training Programme e.g. a programme provided by Citizens Advice or Law Centre (NI) and be able to demonstrate a client centred approach of understanding, empathy and flexibility with people coming to terms with difficult situations.

A cancer diagnosis dramatically changes a person’s circumstances and that of their wider family.  Working in Advice Space and delivering this service on behalf of Macmillan Cancer Support, a long-term partner of Advice Space, you have an exciting opportunity to really make a difference to people at a very difficult time in their lives. You’ll be providing this service to patients, family, carers, social work staff and other cancer support service workers who come into contact with the service.
